Damm (Dam) – Fidyah for Mistakes in Hajj or Umrah
€149.00
Our team in Makkah will perform Damm for you in the form of a sacrifice (one sheep or goat) for any missed legislated actions or violations that occurred during your Hajj or Umrah. The Damm will be performed in Makkah and the meat will be distributed to the poor and needy among the people of Makkah.
What is Damm?
Damm (Arabic: دم) refers to the sacrifice of a small animal such as a sheep or a goat as compensation (Fidyah) for missing an action or violating a Hajj or Umrah-related law. Damm must be carried out in Makkah.
Damm is obligatory when you have:
- Violated one of the prohibitions of Ihram, such as applying perfume or cutting the hair.
- Failed to perform a wajib act of Hajj, such as crossing the Miqat without entering into the state of Ihram.
- Transgressed the sanctity of the Haram, such as killing an animal within its boundaries.
Please refer to these tables which provide a more comprehensive overview of actions that would require Damm.
Where will you perform the sacrifice?
The Damm will be expertly conducted by our dedicated team at a reputable farm within the sacred precincts of Makkah. We pride ourselves on upholding the highest standards of animal welfare and compassion throughout the process.
Which animal will be sacrificed?
We offer you the chance to fulfil your obligations by sacrificing either a healthy sheep or goat, in complete accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
The animals we provide for the Damm service are carefully selected to ensure their health and well-being. We take great care in choosing animals that are healthy, of the correct age and free of any defects inline with Shariah regulations.
Where will the meat be distributed?
The meat from the sacrificed animal will be exclusively distributed to the poor and needy residents of Makkah. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that the distribution is carried out in a manner that benefits those who are most in need.
Will I receive proof of the Damm?
Upon completion of the Damm, we will provide you with a video that serves as proof of the sacrifice, if requested.
What are the benefits of using your Damm service?
Expertise and Proper Handling
Our team consists of experienced professionals who are well-versed in the proper procedures and guidelines for performing Damm. They understand the religious significance and importance of this act and ensure that it is conducted following the principles of Shariah as per guidelines.
Convenience and Peace of Mind
By utilizing our Damm service, you can avoid the complexities and logistical challenges of arranging and performing Damm yourself. Our team takes care of all the necessary arrangements, including selecting healthy animals, performing the sacrifice, and distributing the meat to the designated recipients. This allows you to focus on your spiritual intentions and have peace of mind knowing that the Damm is being carried out properly.
Assurance of Proper Distribution
We ensure that the meat from the sacrificed animals is distributed as per Islamic law to the poor and needy individuals in Makkah. This ensures that your act of Damm reaches those who are most deserving and in need, fulfilling the purpose of this charitable act.
Documentation and Proof
After the Damm is completed, we provide documentation as proof of the sacrifice if requested. This includes a video that verifies the performance of Damm on your behalf. Having such documentation can give you a sense of satisfaction and assurance that your obligation has been fulfilled.
What are some examples of actions that would require Damm?
- Entering the Miqat without coming into Ihram.
- Applying fragrances or perfumes to the body or the clothing, or using scented substances.
- Applying henna or kohl to the body.
- Wearing stitched/sewn/tailored clothing that fits the shape of the body, in the case of men. For example, wearing underwear, shirts, trousers and jackets.
- Wearing footwear that covers the ankle, in the case of men.
- Covering the head or face.
- Shaving, cutting, trimming or removing hair from any part of the body.
- Clipping the nails on the hands or feet.
- Kissing, touching or embracing a person of the opposite gender with lust/desire.
- Having sexual relations. Depending on when this takes place, it could also invalidate the Hajj or Umrah.
- Hunting a prohibited animal.
- Omitting an obligatory action of Hajj or Umrah or not performing it in the way it should be performed.
See these tables for a more comprehensive overview of actions that would require Damm.
