Multazam
The Multazam (Arabic: الملتزم) is the area between Hajar al-Aswad and the door of the Kaaba. It is about two metres wide and is a place where supplications are accepted. It is sunnah to make du’a while touching one’s cheeks, chest, arms, and palms against this sacred area of the Kaaba.

Name
Al-Multazam is derived from the word “iltizam,” signifying attaching or clinging to. Thus, Multazam denotes a place of clinging.

Malik I heard that Abdullah ibn Abbas I used to say:
The area between the corner of the Black Stone and the door of the Kaaba was called al-Multazam.

Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ
After completing Tawaf and completing two rak’ahs of prayer, the Prophet ﷺ would come to the Multazam and supplicate whilst placing his blessed face and chest against it.
Amr ibn Shu’aib I narrated from his father that his grandfather said:
I performed Tawaf with Abdullah ibn Umar, and when we had finished seven (circuits), we prayed two rak’ahs at the back of the Kaaba. I said: ‘Why do you not seek refuge with Allah from the Fire?’ He said: ‘I seek refuge with Allah from the fire.’ Then he touched the Corner, stood between the (Black) Stone and the door (of the Kaabah), and clung against it with his chest, hands, and cheek. Then he said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do this.’

The Prophet ﷺ and his Companions also did the same after the Conquest of Makkah. Abdur Rahman ibn Safwan I narrates:
When the Prophet ﷺ conquered Makkah, I said (to myself): ‘I will put on my garments, as my house was on the road and I will wait and see what the Prophet ﷺ does.’ So I went out and I saw that the Prophet ﷺ and his companions had come out from the Kaaba and embraced the House from its entrance (al-Bab) to al-Hatim. They had placed their cheeks against the House and the Prophet ﷺ was in the midst of them.

Additionally, according to al-Azraqi, it is believed that Prophet Adam S, made his famous supplication here after completing his Tawaf.
What to do at the Multazam
The Multazam is almost impossible to reach during busy periods due to the large crowds that gather. However, it is sometimes accessible at other times of the year.
If it is possible to reach the Multazam, raise your hands above your head, cling to the wall and press your chest and cheeks against it. It is a sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and a station where supplications are accepted, so you should lengthen your du’a here.
If you can’t reach the Multazam due to the crowds, you may face it and supplicate from a distance.
